Under the new rules, you must hire an EPA Lead-Safe Certified contractor if your property was built before 1978 and you cannot provide proof that it is lead-free. For more information, see our advisory, "The EPA’s New Lead Safe Rules: What property managers and owners need to know."
Drug-Free Workplace Program
The Drug-Free Workplace is a comprehensive substance-abuse program administered in cooperation with Workers Compensation. As a Program pioneer, SPS provides its employees and customers with a safe work environment free of alcohol and drug abuse. SPS conducts drug and alcohol testing, provides education and offers help through an Employee Assistance Program.
Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Compliance
OSHA was created by the Federal Government to reduce workplace hazards and implement new, or improve existing, safety and health programs. SPS’s company-wide goal is complete compliance with OSHA standards.
SPS provides mandatory safety training for all employees, including an annual half-day classroom session; 8 hours of safety training for every foreman and manager; voluntary OSHA job-site inspections each quarter; regular insurance job-site inspections; and intensive job-site inspections and safety ratings performed by our in-house Safety Manager. All SPS field employees also complete OSHA’s 10-Hour Construction Safety Training.
Community Associations Institute (CAI)
SPS is an active member and Platinum sponsor of CAI and its programs. We enthusiastically support CAI’s efforts to advance the legislative, managerial, and organizational issues of community associations.
Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)
SPS is a member of ABC’s Massachusetts Chapter, the state’s largest construction trade association. SPS is a recipient of the Massachusetts Chapter’s “Gold” Safety Training and Evaluation Program award for “outstanding commitment to jobsite safety.”
Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) Certification
SPS is DCAM certified by the State of Massachusetts to perform roofing, siding, painting, siding, window and door replacement, and general contracting work on state-owned properties. DCAM certification is only awarded to contractors who meet rigorous financial, operational, and performance requirements for large-scale public building projects.

SPS participates in the federal government’s E-Verify program, which verifies that all of our employees are eligible to work legally in the United States.
